Federation of Organisations and Associations of Mysuru along with tourism stakeholders of Kabini, Nagarhole & Bandipur along with other associations, spokespersons from butchers, dairy farmers, vegetable vendors, labourers had conducted a press meet in the city’s Hotel Sandesh The Prince and requested the Government to lift the ban on Safari at Kabini, Nagarhole & Bandipur.
Speaking at the press meet,FOAM President B S Prashanth said that tourism has been affected the most because of Safari ban. ‘All dependents and their livelihood is in trouble. The Kabini, Nagarhole & Bandipur model is globally recognized as a win-win approach where communities thrive because wildlife thrives. A safari ban would not only break this balance, it would reverse years of progress, pushing local people away from conservation-friendly livelihoods. Protecting this model is essential for both rural welfare and long-term wildlife conservation. Hence Safari should be resumed by forming new SOPs, if necessary’.
Later, a memorandum was submitted on behalf of FOAM to the DC regarding the same.
